Vaccines can be an incredibly effective health intervention, but current vaccination efforts in the developing world are hampered by uncertainty of actual coverage. To help address this, Diagnostics for All has been awarded a three-year, $2.6M grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to develop a rapid diagnostic test for immune markers of successful vaccination against tetanus and measles in children. Additionally, this diagnostic will be able to identify recent exposure to measles, usually a sign that current vaccination efforts need to be improved. With the assistance of a diverse team of partners, we will develop a tool that will enable more accurate assessments of immunization programs and, hopefully, better coverage for these diseases of high global priority.
